Development requests
Ask MG Tech for what you need in the system: a new page, a change to a page, a report. MG Tech looks into it and answers you here and in the bell.
Open the page in SchoolOSWhat it is for
A direct line from the school to the people who build the system: you write what you want and why, it reaches MG Tech as you wrote it, and you see where it stands until it is delivered or turned down for a stated reason.
Who uses it
Every member of staff who signs in asks and sees their own requests; the group's owner sees all the group's requests and who asked. It is no permission to grant or withhold.
Step by step
- From any page: press “?” beside its title, then “Ask for a change to this page”; this page opens with the form ready and the page chosen.
- Or from here: “+ Development request”.
- Write what you want in short, then the details, why you need it, and choose the page if it is about one. Attach a screenshot if it helps.
- “Send the request”, then follow it in the list: its state, and MG Tech's answer.
- If MG Tech asks for more, open the request and write your answer in its messages.
How it works
The request reaches MG Tech's console as you wrote it, and the daily run on MG Tech's PC looks into it: whether it can be built, how long it takes, what it touches of data privacy and the system's rules, and whether other schools asked for it. The run reads the request's words with emails and numbers hidden, and never the school's name, the person who asked or the screenshot. Then MG Tech decides: planned, needs more from you, not planned with the reason, or delivered in a release. Every decision and message reaches you in the bell, and by email if you have one. Your answer to “needs more” puts the request back under review. One account sends twenty requests a day at most.
On the page
- Your requests: each one's state, and MG Tech's answer. Open one to see its messages and answer.
- “+ Development request”: what you want, its details, why, the page, and a screenshot if you like.
Questions
- Why not write a pupil's name in a request?
- MG Tech's team and its development tools read requests, and pupils' data does not leave the school. Describe what you want without names or numbers.
- When will my request be built?
- When MG Tech marks it “planned” it joins the work plan, and when it is built you see “Delivered” with the release.
- Do my colleagues see my request?
- No. Only you, the group's owner and MG Tech see it.
