Gate tablets

What it is for

A gate tablet is a tablet at the school door that records pupils' attendance. Each tablet has its own account that does only that, at one school. Here a tablet is added, set up by a one-time link or a six-digit code, moved to another school, and stopped if it is lost or stolen.

Who uses it

The page opens for whoever holds “View gate tablets”, to look only, or “Manage accounts”, to work in it. In the built-in roles: Owner, Principal. A group grants these to any role under Settings → Roles and permissions, and everyone sees only what is within their own scope.

Step by step

1. Press “+ Add tablet”, type its name, choose its school, then “Save”.
2. Open the link that appears — or scan the QR code — on the tablet itself, and give it a code of at least 10 characters.
3. Or press the phone, “Registration code”, on its row, and type the six digits at schoolos.pro/device on the tablet.
4. For a lost tablet: “Disable” on its row; it is restored from “Deleted”.

How it works

A new tablet is an account with no password, its login tablet- then the school's code and a number. The set-up link appears once and is not stored, and is used once within 24 hours; “New link” voids the ones before. The registration code is six digits, valid 10 minutes for one use, and the newest code voids the ones before. A tablet registered by code stays signed in until it is disabled; one set up by link signs in with an ordinary session that ends after 12 hours unused, and returns with its code or a new registration code. “Disable” ends its sessions at once and voids its links; restoring makes it active if it has a sign-in code, otherwise “Not activated”, needing a new link or registration code. Moving a tablet to another school refuses scans not yet sent for the old one. Managing tablets needs both account management and attendance marking at that school. The action log never records a tablet's name, link or code.
