Stages

The group's stages — kindergarten, primary, intermediate, secondary — added from ready presets with their grades or by hand, and each school's stages.

Open the page in SchoolOS

What it is for

A stage groups grades: primary has six, intermediate three. Stages are added here, and the “Stages per school” table sets which stages each school teaches.

Who uses it

The page opens for whoever holds “View departments (stages)”, to look only, or “Manage schools, stages, grades and sections”, to work in it. In the built-in roles: Owner, Principal. A group grants these to any role under Settings → Roles and permissions, and everyone sees only what is within their own scope.

Step by step

  1. Press “+ Add stage”, and choose a ready preset, added with its grades, or write a custom stage.
  2. In “Stages per school”, tick the stages each school teaches; every tick saves as soon as it changes.
  3. To change a stage: the pencil on its row. To delete it: the bin; it is restored from “Deleted”.
  4. To add many stages: “Import” from an Excel file.

How it works

A preset adds the stage and all its grades once, then shows “Added”; a custom stage is added with no grades, which are added under “Grades”. The code is not repeated in the group, and the presets' codes are KG, PRI, INT and SEC. The stages' order decides the next stage when pupils are promoted. The table decides which stages a school's classes can be created in, and where a pupil continues after their stage's last grade; a school with no ticks counts as teaching every stage. Deleting deactivates, and the grades and their classes stay. Adding and changing stages is for someone whose permission covers the whole group; the table's ticks are for whoever manages the structure at the school.

On the page

  • Search by the stage's name or code.
  • “Import” stages from an Excel file.
  • Each stage's code, name, kind and number of grades. The pencil changes, the bin deletes.
  • The stages each school teaches; every tick saves at once.
  • “+ Add stage”: a ready preset with its grades, or a custom stage.

Questions

Why does a preset show “Added” when it is not in the list?
The stage is under “Deleted”; restore it from there.
Why is a stage missing when I create my school's classes?
Your school's ticks in the table do not include it. Tick it under “Stages per school”.
Does a preset add the grades?
Yes, all of them. A custom stage does not; add its grades under “Grades”.
