What it is for

Where the group's news and announcements live, as visitors see them on the public page: an open day, an admissions date, a ceremony. An item with no publish date is a draft nobody sees.

Who uses it

The page opens for whoever holds “View website news”, to look only, or “Manage tenant settings”, to work in it. In the built-in roles: Owner. A group grants these to any role under Settings → Roles and permissions, and everyone sees only what is within their own scope.

Step by step

1. Press “+ Add news”, and write the title, the summary and the text.
2. Leave “Publish date” empty to keep it a draft, type today's date to publish it, or a coming date for it to appear that morning.
3. Tick “Pinned to the top” for an item that must stay first, then save.
4. On an item's row: the eye publishes it now or returns it to draft, the pencil changes it, the bin deletes it.

How it works

An item's state comes from its date: no date is “Draft”, a past date or today “Published”, a coming date “Scheduled”. The site shows six items at most, pinned first then newest, each as a card with the title, the date and the summary, and «Read the full story» under it opens its text. The title is 200 characters, the summary 400, the text 5,000. Deleting a published item takes it off the site, and it is restored from “Deleted” with its date. Changes reach visitors within about half a minute. Only someone holding the group's settings writes news.

Questions

How do I schedule the open day's announcement?

Type that day as the “Publish date”; it shows “Scheduled” and goes up that morning.

How do I pull an item with a mistake without losing it?

Press the eye on its row: it goes back to draft and keeps its text.

Why don't older items show on the site?

The site shows six items only, pinned first, then newest.
