Site setup
The group's public page: what a parent reads before enrolling a child — the hero, about us, mission and vision, services, admissions and contact. Saved, then published.
Open the page in SchoolOSWhat it is for
Each group has one public page at its address in SchoolOS. Its content is written here, its look and colour chosen, and admissions opened or closed. Saving and publishing are two separate steps on purpose: you write and check, then publish when it is ready.
Who uses it
The page opens for whoever holds “View the website”, to look only, or “Manage tenant settings”, to work in it. In the built-in roles: Owner. A group grants these to any role under Settings → Roles and permissions, and everyone sees only what is within their own scope.
Step by step
- Fill the cards in order: look, hero, about us, mission, vision and goals, what we offer, admissions, contact, and being found by search engines.
- Press “Save” in the bar at the foot of the page. Saving does not publish.
- Press “Publish the site” in the toolbar when the page is ready, then “Open the site” to see it as a visitor does.
- To hide the page without deleting anything: “Unpublish”.
How it works
The branches, their addresses and phones come from Settings → Schools, and the pupil and staff numbers are counted by the system. A section shows on the page only when it is filled, the “Enrol now” button only while admissions are open and their link is set, and the admissions section only with its text. The colour is #rrggbb, and it is the group's colour under Group branding too, so the whole system changes with it; it is adjusted so white text stays readable. The founding year is between 1900 and this year, and links start with http:// or https://. Texts are cut at their limits. The first publish needs this page saved first — choosing the group colour on “Group branding” is not enough — and an unpublished site opens for nobody. Changes reach visitors within about half a minute. The site's language is the group's language. A save is written to the action log by its field names, not their text. Only someone holding the group's settings changes the site.
On the page
- The site's state (published or draft), “Open the site”, and “Publish the site” or “Unpublish”.
- What comes from elsewhere: the branches from Schools, the numbers counted by the system, and the site's address.
- “Save” saves and does not publish; visitors see nothing until “Publish the site”.
Questions
- I saved and parents see nothing.
- Saving does not publish: press “Publish the site”, then allow about half a minute.
- Where do the branch phones and the pupil count come from?
- The branches are the active schools under Settings → Schools, and the numbers are counted from the active pupils and staff.
- Do I lose what I wrote if I unpublish?
- No. The page is only hidden, and everything you wrote stays.
