Exit permits

A pupil leaving during the day: who collected them, why and when, with a message to the guardian.

Open the page in SchoolOS

What it is for

When a pupil is collected before the day ends, it is recorded here: the time, who collected them and why. The guardian is told by a message, so they know their child left and with whom.

Who uses it

The page opens for whoever holds “View exit permits”, to look only, or “Mark attendance”, to work in it. In the built-in roles: Owner, Principal, Stage supervisor, Teacher. A group grants these to any role under Settings → Roles and permissions, and everyone sees only what is within their own scope.

Step by step

  1. Press “+ Add exit permit”.
  2. Choose the pupil (choose the class or search for them first if they are not listed), type who collects them, choose the reason, and add a note if you like.
  3. Leave “Send to guardian” ticked for a message to go to them, then “Save”.
  4. Follow the message in the “Message” column.
  5. To delete a permit recorded by mistake: the bin on its row; it is restored from “Deleted”.

How it works

The day and time are recorded at the moment of saving. The reason is required, from the list, which starts empty because some reasons are about health. The message to the guardian names the pupil, the day, the hour and who collected them, and the “Message” column shows how far it got: sent, delivered, read, failed, not sent for lack of a channel, or no guardian phone. A permit does not change the pupil's attendance status. Deleting one deactivates it: it stays under “Deleted”, and its message stays in the message reports, since a sent message is not withdrawn. The page shows the last seven days to today, and only someone holding “Mark attendance” at the pupil's school records a permit.

Questions

Why “No guardian phone”?
The pupil's file has no primary number for a guardian who receives messages. Add one on the pupil's file.
I deleted a permit. Is the message withdrawn?
No. A sent message is not withdrawn, and it stays in the message reports.
